Hi there! I’m Megan and I’m so glad you’re here! A little bit about me… First and foremost, I love me some Jesus Christ. I was born and raised in Texas, just south of Dallas. I have two younger brothers, Dylan and Colin and now two sisters, Meagan and Tiffany. I grew up in the gym, always at gymnastics practice. I competed nationally and internationally for 18 years, and loved every second of it! Most people think I have a ‘photography’ degree but I don’t! My degree is in Interdisciplinary Studies, primarily focused on Special Education. I taught in the public school system for 3 years.
I met my now husband, Mitch when I was 17, he was 14 (yes, I married a younger man… nothing wrong with that! And I’ve already heard all the jokes). We became best friends and were inseparable. When he told me he liked me, I tried my best to ignore him. But, I knew deep down I was going to marry him and I eventually stopped fighting it. We dated for over 5 years before we were married in June 2011. After we got back from our honeymoon, we moved to Virginia. We’ve lived here for almost 3 years with our fat cat, Phoenix and golden retriever puppy, Mabry. Phoenix has a mohawk because he’s just that awesome, and Mabry thinks she’s people and sleeps on us when we’re on the couch.
I wish I could say that I knew I would going to be a photographer since I was 5 when I found my grandmother’s camera in the attic in a vintage suitcase, was captivated and needed to know everything about it. But that’s not my story! My mother was always taking pictures, no matter where we went. She always had a camera in her hand, and as much as I disliked always stopping to smile for a picture, I loved looking at the images when she had them printed. My first camera was a handheld Sony Cybershot. I loved taking macro pictures of bugs and flowers. I quickly turned my attention to people and bought a Panasonic Lumix, and that was the camera that launched my business. I officially went full time in 2013 and haven’t looked back since!
