Meet Megan

aboutmeg

Hi there! I’m Megan and I’m so glad you’re here! A little bit about me… First and foremost, I love me some Jesus Christ. I was born and raised in Texas, just south of Dallas. I have two younger brothers, Dylan and Colin and now two sisters, Meagan and Tiffany. I grew up in the gym, always at gymnastics practice. I competed nationally and internationally for 18 years, and loved every second of it! Most people think I have a ‘photography’ degree but I don’t! My degree is in Interdisciplinary Studies, primarily focused on Special Education. I taught in the public school system for 3 years.

I met my now husband, Mitch when I was 17, he was 14 (yes, I married a younger man… nothing wrong with that! And I’ve already heard all the jokes). We became best friends and were inseparable. When he told me he liked me, I tried my best to ignore him. But, I knew deep down I was going to marry him and I eventually stopped fighting it. We dated for over 5 years before we were married in June 2011. After we got back from our honeymoon, we moved to Virginia. We’ve lived here for almost 3 years with our fat cat, Phoenix and golden retriever puppy, Mabry. Phoenix has a mohawk because he’s just that awesome, and Mabry thinks she’s people and sleeps on us when we’re on the couch.

I wish I could say that I knew I would going to be a photographer since I was 5 when I found my grandmother’s camera in the attic in a vintage suitcase, was captivated and needed to know everything about it. But that’s not my story! My mother was always taking pictures, no matter where we went. She always had a camera in her hand, and as much as I disliked always stopping to smile for a picture, I loved looking at the images when she had them printed. My first camera was a handheld Sony Cybershot. I loved taking macro pictures of bugs and flowers. I quickly turned my attention to people and bought a Panasonic Lumix, and that was the camera that launched my business. I officially went full time in 2013 and haven’t looked back since!

I absolutely love my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I live for Him because He died for me. If you see me around town, I’m usually dressed to be comfortable and I’m probably at Chipotle. I love chocolate, Disney movies, vanilla lattes, succulents and the Walking Dead. I absolutely despise onions, being cold, being late and the sound of whistling. I’m always twirling my hair around my fingers, which is why I’m way too chicken to cut it. When I find a song I like, I listen to it nonstop until I can’t stand it anymore. My perfect date night is picking up Chipotle, snuggling on the couch and watching a movie.
